Jean Rae Ormandy

Jean Rae Ormandy, age 94, went home to be with her Lord and savior on March 26, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family.

She was born on July 29, 1930 in Beckley, WV to the late George Washington Blevins and Bessie Blevins.

Jean dedicated her life to her family and Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a charter member, while raising a family of 7 children and helping her husband run a family business, DOY Mobile Homes in Daniels, WV. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, William Ormandy, of 72 years, her son, Ray Ormandy, and daughters, Linda Beaver (Berlin) and Peggy Meadows (John).

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, David Ormandy (Joyce) of Walland, TN, Bill Mark Ormandy (Nancy) of Clayton, NC, Reed Ormandy (Rebecca) of Beckley, WV, Daniel Ormandy (Michelle) of Shady Spring, WV, sister, Peggy Hoskins of Beckley, WV, 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a very special caregiver, Risa Mann of Daniels, WV, who served her for 8 years and beloved dog, MAX.

She served her life with dedication to the Lord. Her legacy of selflessness and love will live on through her children and their families.

Pallbearers; David Ormandy, Bill Mark Ormandy, Reed Ormandy, Daniel Ormandy, Brian Beaver (grandson) and William “Alex” Ormandy (grandson), with honorary pallbearer, Baker Epling (great-grandson).

Services will be held at Memorial Baptist Church on Monday, March 31st, with Pastor Dr. James Boyd officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1-2, with services immediately following. Interment service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, family asks to make donations to Bowers Hospice House, in Beckley, WV, in honor of Jean Ormandy.
