Jean Ann York Piper, age 69, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on July 28, 2025 in New Albany, Indiana. Born on January 1, 1956, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who took great pride in caring for her family.
For many years, Jean owned her own cleaning company, but her primary calling was always her family. She dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her loved ones, and her proudest accomplishments were found in the time spent with them. Jean had a vibrant personality; she truly enjoyed helping people and lending a helping hand and had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met, never leaving a stranger unturned.
Outside of her commitments as a caregiver, Jean had a variety of interests that brought her joy, including cooking, camping, country cruises, and relaxing on the front porch. These simple pleasures enriched her life and provided cherished memories for her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Bill Piper, and her children: Joey (Kama) Piper, William (Becky) Hawkins, Wayne Hawkins, Ashley Barnes, and Damin Collins. She was a proud grandmother to Kaylynne, Miranda (Kyle), Dustin (Megan), and Marissa. Jean is also survived by her father, Patrick (Elizabeth) York, and her siblings: Wayne (Phyllis) York, Lee (Richard) Scott, Dana (Donald) Parkerson, and Carol (Ronnie) Jackson. Her legacy continues through her several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, including Janie (Fred) Poehlein.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia York; her sister, Barbara Baker; and her nephew, Levi York, all of whom hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held in Jean's honor on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana in New Albany, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
