Jean Prinzing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schepp Family Funeral Homes Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel on Oct. 1, 2025.
Jean Catherine Prinzing (nee Trau) of Manlius, passed away after a brief hospitalization on August 28, 2025. She was born in Pittsford, NY and graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School, Rosary Hill and Nazareth Colleges. Jean began her career as an elementary teacher until the birth of her children. While raising her children, she held several paid and unpaid positions with various non-profits including St. Joseph's Catholic School, The Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse, Crouse Hospital Auxiliary, and the Everson Museum.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Prinzing (2024); her parents, Ed and Millie Trau; and her sister, Bonnie Kuppinger just a few weeks ago. She is survived by her daughter, Stacey and son, Scott (Lynne); as well as her favorite people, her grandchildren, Oakley, Colston, and Joni. Jean is also survived by her sisters, Pat Hartigan and Beth Townsend; her brother-in-law Jon Kuppinger; as well as several treasured nieces and nephews with whom she shared her love of the Adirondacks.
In her happiest moments, Jean could be found enjoying the peace and sometimes chaos of her camp in the Adirondacks. She began to visit the area as a young child and found joy in the last 41 summers spent there. Jean got her one last summer there on her own terms and for that we are forever grateful. Her sheer determination to have this summer was accomplished by the help of so many who lovingly supported her in words and deeds. It is not lost on her family how many people have cared for her in so many ways over the past year.
As in life, she had opinions on how her life would be celebrated. There will be no services, rather her family will honor her over food and drinks with people who loved her well over her lifetime and we encourage you to do the same.
Donations in her honor may be made to Young Life Lake Champion, https://lakechampion.younglife.org/development/ or St. Anthony's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 236, Old Forge, New York 13420
