Gloria "Jean" (Casey) Rickords, of
Bartlesville, OK passed away suddenly on Monday, June 23, 2025 at the age of 75 following a brain aneurysm and cerebral hemorrhage, surrounded by her loved ones and is now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus.
Jean was born in Springfield, MO to William Casey and Beverly (Singleton) Schroeder on May 30, 1950. She was raised in Winfield, KS where she attended primary and secondary school, graduating from Winfield High School in 1968.
In early 1970, Jean met the love of her life, Dennis Rickords, on a double date. The couple were united in holy matrimony on September 12, 1970, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City, KS. The couple made their home in Shreveport, LA, where Jean was a US Air Force wife. The couple then moved to Wiesbaden, Germany where they welcomed their first child, Jeffery Brian Rickords in 1972. In 1973, they made their home in Kingman, KS. The family made the move to Newkirk, OK in 1975, where Jean took a job at the hospital in Ponca City, OK. In 1977, the couple's favorite child, Beth Ann Rickords, joined the family. Jean spent several years as a homemaker, while also providing childcare for other families in their community. In 1981, the family made their home in Copan, OK. Jean continued providing childcare for other families in Copan. Once both children were in school, Jean took a job at Copan Public School as support staff, eventually moving to the cafeteria as a cook for many years. Jean retired from the school after more than 20 years of employment.
Jean enjoyed many hobbies and activities over the years, such as cross-stitch, quilting, reading, playing cards, fishing, and even participated in a bowling league. She spent countless hours cheering for her children at the baseball and softball fields and gymnasium. Jean was a fantastic cook at work and at home. She was a long-time, active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bartlesville. She volunteered her time helping in the nursery, and most often in the kitchen, cooking. In her retirement, Jean enjoyed being able to spend time with friends and other couples, going to dinner and playing pitch. She was a proud grandma to her 6 grandsons. Jean and Dennis recently took a couple of trips. One to Lincoln, NE, where she was able to be present for the gender reveal of their second great-grandchild, a girl. The most recent trip was to Branson, MO with good friends. Jean had the best time and just lit up when she talked about her trips and her time with family and friends. She reminded us that laughter is good for the soul.
Jean is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Dennis Rickords of the home; Son, Jeff (wife Anna) Rickords of Lincoln, NE; Daughter, Beth Rickords of
