Jean B. Roneker
The flower lady passed away on February 8, 2025 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale with her family by her side. She was 89 years old.
Born in Buffalo, NY in 1935, she was the only child of Ralph and Evelyn (Lubstorf) Leswing. In her early years, she went to school in Buffalo and spent her summers on the family farmstead in Clarence, NY. She enjoyed farming life and it was there she developed her famous green thumb and joy of flowers.
In 1950, her family moved to Eden, NY in the the house her father and uncle built. After she finished with school, she began both her family and her nursery and greenhouse careers. She raised her family, cared for aging parents and ran her successful business simultaneously.
In 2021, she retired and moved to Honesdale to be close to family. She lived in Maple City Apartments where she made many new friends and beautified the grounds by starting flower beds.
She is survived by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She leaves a lasting legacy of family and flowers across the country.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, 10 to 12:30. A eulogy and stories will be shared 12:30 to 1.
