Jean Ann Thompson, 81, of Belle Center, OH, passed away Saturday night, September 13, 2025, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine, OH.
Jean Ann was born on February 1, 1944, in Lakeview, OH, a daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Lackey) Newland. She is preceded in death by three children, Tammy Shellenbarger, James Evan Shellenbarger, and Allen Newland, four siblings, Kathleen Carrino, Everett Newland, Daniel "Bud" Newland, and Shirley Fry, who raised her from a young age as her own, and two former husbands, Roger Shellenbarger, and Tommy Thompson.
Jean Ann is survived by three grandchildren, Jeffrey Newland, Alex Newland, and Donna Shellenbarger, and three great grandchildren, Trenton, Cameron, and Lily, and several nieces and nephews.
Jean Ann earned her nursing degree as an LPN while she lived in Oklahoma. She moved back to Ohio and worked at PCPI in Kenton and then at World Class Plastics in Russells Point into her 70's when she retired. She loved animals, especially her dogs, Sabrina and Scooby.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Visitation is Wednesday, September 17th from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Jean Ann's memory to support the Logan County Animal Shelter to Behind the Badge Volunteers, Inc, 284 Co Rd 32 South, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
