Jean Yocheved Ticho was a designer, creative spirit, and beloved mother and grandmother who lived a life defined by resilience, style, and a strong sense of identity. She was born on June 26, 1937, in Slonim, Belarus, and was raised in Israel with her twin sister Ruthi and younger sister Nurith. Israel shaped her early life, her love of design, and her enduring connection to its culture. Jean passed away surrounded by her loving family at Kirkland Village in
Bethlehem, PA on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
As a young woman Jean served in the Israeli Army before beginning her career at Israel Motion Picture Studios in Tel Aviv. She contributed to the production of Hill 24 Doesn't Answer, considered Israel's first feature film, and it was there that she met her future husband, sound engineer Charles Ticho. After her work at the studio she spent time in Australia as an emissary for a Zionist youth organization, proudly representing Israel abroad before departing for the United States.
In New York, Jean graduated from the Mayer School of Fashion Design and went on to launch her fashion label, Jean Ticho Designs, in the 1970s. Her reversible vest became her signature piece, admired for its construction, bold fabrics, and modern design. Her clothing was carried by premier Fifth Avenue retailers including Ann Taylor and Henri Bendel, securing her place in New York's fashion community.
Jean later brought her creativity and leadership to The Design Store, where she served as a successful retail manager. When Charles experienced a heart attack she stepped into an important leadership role at their company, Performance Designs Inc., applying her business instincts, organization, and steady commitment to support the company's success.
Throughout her life Jean maintained a deep love for Israel. She and Charles cherished the time they spent visiting their apartment in Rishon Lezion, and spending time with relatives and close friends.
Above all Jean was devoted to her family. She was the loving mother of Robin and her husband Dan, Ron and his wife Pam, and Richard and his wife Sharon. She was the proud grandmother of Michael, Nathan, Hannah (Max), and Cody. To her loved ones and friends she was simply "Yochi," vibrant, stylish, witty, and unmistakably herself. Her presence, warmth, and creativity shaped the lives of everyone around her.
Jean lived in Woodcliff Lake and Hackensack, New Jersey, and most recently in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She will be remembered for the beauty she created, the strength she carried, and the unmistakable light she brought into every room.
Services: A Graveside Service will be held at 2 P.M on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652. Jean's services have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
