Jean Walker Bevis Grant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home on Feb. 12, 2025.
Jean Walker Bevis Grant, of Albany passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at Savannah Court Assisted Living in Camilla.
The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
Jean was born in Pearson Georgia to the late Moses Walker and Lennie Arizona Spivey Walker on July 10, 1943. She was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Pearson high school and shortly thereafter moved to Atlanta Georgia where she met and married Larry Bevis on November 25, 1962.
Larry and Jean had three daughters. Jean was a mother, wife and homemaker. Along with everyday tasks of endless duties of homemaker, she was president of the Christian woman's club of Albany for many years. She also painted props and sewed many costumes for Murphy dance studio recitals and the December performance of the Nutcracker. In addition, she was beautifully blessed with the gift of art. Nature was her choice for painting. She said, "Nature was indeed the beauty that fed the soul."
In 1992 she married George Grant and they moved to Pendleton Oregon to live back in his hometown. However, in 1999 she came home to visit her first grandson and within a day, she called George and told him to pack his bags they are moving back to Albany. She and George stayed in Albany until recently moving into Savannah Court assisted living home in Camilla, Georgia.
She was blessed with five more grandchildren. Having grandchildren was definitely the happiest days of her life. I doubt any of us will forget her beautiful laugh.
And we must not forget, buttercup, Mom's lifeline and constant companion!
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Zona Walker, her first husband, Larry Bevis, her siblings Judy Tyson, Velton Walker, Betty Sue Walker, Rudy Walker, and Tim Walker.
Survivors include her husband, George Grant; her children, Laura Bevis Glasser (John), Jodi Bevis Baker (David), and Cristi Bevis Lewis (Jim); a brother, Jim Walker; a nephew, Stephen Woolard (Gayle); and six grandchildren, Taylor Lewis, Jonathan Lewis (Abby), Hannah Scarborough, Haley Scarborough, Jacob Glasser, and Walker Woolard.
The family would like to express a big thank you to all of her caretakers at Savannah Court. They went above and beyond to take care of their mom.
