Jean Woody

With great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Creel Woody on November 23, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Cletus Creel and Mary Benefield Creel; brothers Hoyt Creel (Elisabeth) and Cecil Creel. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years John; daughter Mary Lynn Johnson; grandson John Patterson; several nephews.

After graduating from Hapeville High School she worked at the Chevrolet plant for 3 years as a computer operator. She was also employed by Prestolite Battery Company for over 30 years in accounting and after her retirement, she worked at South Fulton Hospital for 10 years. While working at South Fulton she volunteered as a Gray Lady for two years.

She was an active member of McDonough Road Baptist Church for 40 years and enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday school members.

Jean was very active in her community. She volunteered at South Fulton Hospital as a Gray Lady (RedCross) and for Habitat for Humanity on two occasions during which she met President Carter and his wife. She also worked as a volunteer during the 1996 Olympics and was in Security. She was a charter member of Fayette Community Hospital Auxiliary, later known as Piedmont Fayette Hospital, and was an active member for over 19 years.

She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and foreign countries with her husband, being a member of Early Ford Clubs of America, bowling, and square dancing.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 10 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow after the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
