Jeanette "Sandy" Bueoy, Age: 86

May 09, 1939 - Nov 15, 2025

Jeanette Bueoy, known to many as Sandy, passed away from natural causes at her home in Blue Springs, Missouri at the age of 86. She was born Jeanette Faye Keith in Hastings, Nebraska, to Georgia and Virgil Keith; her father nicknamed her Sandy. Hastings is also where she met the love of her life, a handsome Marine named Bennie K. Bueoy. On January 26, 1957, they were married, just because they were in love. They were together for 52 years, living in Junction City, Kansas, Kansas City, Missouri, and finally moving to their dream house where they retired in Paola, Kansas.

Sandy and Ben were the couple that everyone loved. They were fun, they did fun things, and they enjoyed being around family - good thing since both Sandy and Ben each had six brothers and sisters! Sandy was a great cook and was usually in the kitchen at family events, while everyone waited for her famous fried chicken. But, she and Ben loved to go on vacations and made several trips to California, Florida, and Las Vegas. She liked to ride on motorcycles, she was on a bowling team, mined crystals in Arkansas, made and sold jewelry, and took part in car shows with Ben and his father's restored 1968 Plymouth Fury III. They liked music and they liked to dance; they could do a pretty mean jitterbug!

Sandy was an amazing photographer who took pictures no matter how much her family complained (thank goodness for the historical documentation!). We have her first Brownie camera. She was also an artist, and we are grateful to have her beautiful paintings. She was an accomplished gardener, growing lovely roses, peonies and iris every year. In addition, she was very smart. She planned everything with her trusty notebook. She started as an operator at the phone company but worked her way into management as a Junior Executive, overseeing the division that produced phone books. She was generous with her time and her money, especially where animals were concerned. She was a cat breeder at one point, and supported the local animal shelter, but she always had cats as pets. She genuinely loved her cats, even the neighborhood strays, and was often teased about being the cat lady.

Sandy had two children that she leaves behind, Georgia R. Bueoy of Santa Cruz, California (her husband Randy Crane, her son Benjamin Meyer and his daughter Charlotte, her daughter Samantha Meyer and her husband Sam Breazile, and son Kacy Crane) and Jeffrey J. Bueoy of Kansas City, Missouri (his wife LaNetta, sons Blake and Dalton, and his daughter Danielle). She also has three remaining siblings, Judy, Mike and Patty; she already lost Barbie, Terry and Virgil.

When her husband Ben passed in 2009 her life changed dramatically. She had some health issues too and we convinced her to move from the big house in Paola, to an apartment closer to family. Sandy started her new life using her birth name, Jeanette. She lived independently until 2023, when it was decided she would live with her grandson in Blue Springs. He is also named Ben (after the love of her life), and he took wonderful care of her. Soon, her other grandson Kacy moved from California to Missouri to aid Ben with her care. In the last years Hospice was also a big help. Jeanette was extremely comfortable in the family home and often reported what loving care she was receiving. In addition, she got to see her great-granddaughter growing up, enjoyed wonderful home-cooked meals, plus as much chocolate as she wanted, and in the last few months she had a sweet little kitten in her life.

At her tallest she only measured 5"2", but she was a reckoning force, strong willed to the end. We will all remember her big smile with the cutest dimples. A celebration of life will be held on 11/22/2025. Please reach out to Jeff or Georgia for details.
