Jeanette M. (Poirier) Curnyn
Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early on Thursday morning May 29, 2025 surrounded by her loving family in Newton-Wellesley Hospital at the age of 76.
Born on October 12, 1948 in Waltham; daughter of the late Ernest "Ernie" Poirier and Marjorie "Chickie" (Formalarie) Poirier. Sister of the late Ernest "Ricky" Poirier. Jeanette has been a lifelong resident of Waltham.
A graduate of Saint Mary's High School with the Class of 1966, Jeanette had been employed in her early years with New England Telephone Company and the Rix Company before taking the job opportunity that she loved the most as a Librarian at the Waltham Public Library.
Jeanette loved and lived her life to the fullest. She had a great sense of humor, and she loved to sing. She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard around her house, but had a passion for sewing. Over the years, Jeanette made numerous outfits and vests that she shared with so many. She had many other interests and hobbies including being an avid Bid Whist player, co-managing the "Waltham, Keeping in Touch" Facebook group, researching her family genealogy, and traveling every summer to her camp in Jackman, Maine.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years William E. "Billy" Curnyn; her devoted & loving sisters Anne Reagan of Waltham; and Suzanne McCluskey and her husband Kenny of Mashpee. In addition, she was an adoring aunt to Brian Reagan and his wife Andrea; Joshua Poirier and his wife Alicia; Stephanie McCluskey; and Melanie McGrail and her husband Tim; and the cherished great-aunt of Caitlin Reagan, Daniel Reagan, Emma Poirier and Teddy McGrail.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Jeanette and her family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Jeanette's life to remember the love and friendship she shared with so many at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Tuesday afternoon June 3rd at 12:00 P.M.
