Jeanette Irene Ling Greve Thompson passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 93. Jeanette was well-loved and admired by her large extended family and all who knew her.

Born on March 2, 1931, in Jackson County, Minnesota, Jeanette graduated in 1949 from Round Lake High School where she was proud to be a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. On January 22, 1950, she married Harry H. Greve in Brewster, MN. For most of their lives, they resided in Sibley, IA and together they were blessed with 5 children. She and Harry worked tirelessly to provide opportunities, support and love for their family. Over the years their family grew, and they were blessed with 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Jeanette’s greatest love was her family, and she believed first and foremost in her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. Jeanette entered the workforce while still raising their family, working 27 years as Office Manager at Keith Merrick Co, Sibley, IA. Jeanette and Harry enjoyed camping, square dancing and spending winters in Leisure World, Weslaco, Texas. They were married for 54 years until Harry passed on May 4, 2004.

Jeanette was active her entire life. She loved to sew, knit, read, square dance and line dance, play cards, and spend time with family and friends. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sibley, IA, where she enjoyed being a member of the PW, Dorcas Circle and Bible Study. Jeanette also was in a Red Hat group, Turkey Trotter square dance group, taught line dancing and sang in the choir, and in Texas she tutored in elementary schools.

On February 9, 2007, Jeanette married Robert Thompson in Weslaco, TX.

Jeanette is predeceased by her husband of 54 years Harry Greve, her parents, infant sister Marlene Ling, brother James Ling, and infant grandson Richard. She is survived by her husband, Robert Thompson, son Thomas Greve and his wife Rachel, daughter Theresa (Terri) and her husband Tom Gregg, son Dennis Greve and his wife Linda, daughter Darla and her husband Mike Erb, son Joseph Greve and his wife Kay, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren, her extended Ling and Greve families, and the family members of Robert Thompson.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, March 7th, at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Sibley, Iowa, followed by funeral service at 1:00 PM. A private family burial will take place later.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society and/or the First Presbyterian Church of Sibley.
