Jeanette Victoria McMahan was born on August 21, 1954, to Stephen and Marie (Trujillo) Ortega in Raton, New Mexico. She completed high school and stepped into the workforce, embracing a fulfilling career as a contract administrator.
Jeanette became a proud mother and lovingly raised her only son, Stephen. He was her biggest accomplishment in life.
Jeanette loved her church and enjoyed sharing the love and warmth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with as many friends as possible. She was a part of Bethel Baptist Church and a member of St. Agnes Church.
Jeanette was an avid angler and competed in many fishing tournaments over the years. She stayed active golfing and liked to watch football, especially the Denver Broncos. Jeanette cherished her two beloved dogs, Hemi and Xena.
Jeanette met the love of her life, Keith L. Gille, when she was in her early thirties. He was her soulmate and companion. The couple built a beautiful life together, residing in Colorado for many years before eventually settling in Scottsbluff. They were a match made in Heaven.
Jeanette was a very honest, trustworthy, loving, and caring soul. She always put other people before herself. When Jeanette entered a room, her maternal presence and smile brought happiness to all who knew her.
She leaves a lifetime of memories to cherish with her son, Stephen Joseph McMahan of LaPorte, IN; three brothers, Michael Ortega, Steven Ortega, and Albert Ortega all of Raton, NM; two sisters, Lisha Jaramillo of Phoenix, AZ and Robin Romero of Raton, NM; three grandchildren, Shane McMahan of Minnesota and Sabrina and Owen McMahan of Fort Collins, CO; special friends, Judson and Jenna Hall, Stacy and Bill Moore, and Denise Abts and her son, Reece; along with a host of extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Marie Ortega; and loving husband, Keith Gille in February 2024.
