Jeanine "Rachel" Moinat, 93, died Saturday March 16, 2024 in Waumandee, WI. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was a funny, loving woman, with a strong faith, and her favorite verse was John 3:16.
Rachel was born in France and grew up in Neuchatel, Switzerland. There she met and married her husband of 62 years, Michel Moinat. Together they had three children: Janine, Maurice and Helene. Michel and Rachel moved their family to the United States to farm in 1967. Their daughter, Janine, met and married Martin Ehrat, and they purchased the farm from Michel and Rachel.
Michel and Rachel moved around quite a bit in their lifetime between the states and Europe landing in France where Michel passed in May 2017. After Michel's passing, Rachel moved back to the States to be with her children. She was the last of her generation in the family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; and son-in-law: Martin Ehrat. She is survived by her children: Janine Ehrat, Maurice (Stacy) Moinat and Helene Moinat; along with grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would also like to thank Winona Hospice for all of their support the last 2 years. The care they provide is essential so families can keep their loved ones at home.
A service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Wozney-Killian Funeral home and will be officiated by Bob Lotz. Rachel will be laid to rest at Anchorage Cemetery in Waumandee with a small family gathering afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Please write checks out to Helene Moinat, memorials will be donated to the Waumandee First Responders. To express condolences to her family online, please visit www.wozneykillianfh.com.
