FARMINGDALE - Jeanne M. Austin, 86, of Farmingdale, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on November 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 22, 1939, in Belfast, Maine, to the late Owen and Grace (McGray) Mank. Jeanne built a life filled with love, dedication, and adventure.
Jeanne was the beloved wife of Edward B. Austin, Jr., with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together they created a home defined by laughter, kindness, and devotion - both to each other and to their family.
She was a devoted mother to Stacey McIntyre and her husband, Kevin, and to Jason Austin and his wife, Sarah. Jeanne's greatest joy in life was being "Grammie" to her beloved grandchildren - Devyn and her partner, Trevor, who are expecting Jeanne's first great-grandchild in January 2026, as well as Owen, Rylie, Kailyn, and Eben. She felt truly blessed to have shared so many special moments and lasting memories with each of them.
Jeanne is also survived by her beloved siblings, Joyce Fenner and John Mank. She is further survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vincent and Elizabeth Miele, as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Jeanne graduated from Crosby High School, in Belfast, Maine, in 1958 and went on to attend Westbrook Junior College. Jeanne entered the banking industry and was a dedicated and respected professional. Jeanne built a long and successful career starting at First National Granite Bank and retired in 2000 as the Vice President of Human Resources in Maine at Bank of America after 39 years in banking. Her leadership, compassion, and integrity touched the lives of many colleagues and friends throughout her years of service.
Beyond her career, Jeanne's passions reflected her deep love for life's simple pleasures. She found happiness in spending time with family, bird watching, attending her grandchildren's athletic events, celebrating holiday traditions, and traveling on adventures with her husband. Her warmth and enthusiasm made every gathering brighter and every journey memorable.
Jeanne will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her generous spirit, and her ability to make everyone around her feel special. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched and in the family she so dearly loved.
