Jeanne Farley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crevasse's Simple Cremation - Jacksonville on Mar. 24, 2026.
Our dear sassy, mother and grandmother, Jeanne McCue Farley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by the love of her family. She left this world as she lived in it: on her own terms, with spirit and style.

Born in 1932 in New York City, Jeanne carried the New York energy in her heart for all her days. Though she made homes in Connecticut, New Jersey, Michigan, and Florida, a piece of her always belonged to New York.

She delighted in telling stories of her girlhood adventures-riding the subways with a hatpin in hand to ward off wandering hands, sporting mink earrings, and spending days at Rockaway Beach. Those stories were told with a sparkle in her eye and impeccable comedic timing.

Jeanne was the youngest of three daughters born to Owen Patrick and Mary Ash. A graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent, she earned a degree in economics- uncommon for a woman of her generation. Her education reflected her sharp mind, independence, and determination, qualities that defined her throughout her life.

She was an avid reader and a follower of the New York Times. Word games were a favorite pastime. Of all her hobbies, however, antiquing and browsing resale shops with her beloved granddaughter Sophia brought her the greatest joy. Those outings were about more than treasures-they were about time together and shared laughter. She also loved bantering with grandson Ben, who loved to rib his Nana about politics and current events.

Jeanne is survived by her five children: Susan (Phil), Michael, Lizbeth, Ann (Brian), and Patrick (Colleen); and by her grandchildren: Dan (Traci), Anna, Ben (Alana), Sophia, Michael, Kelly, Owen, and Reagan, and her great grandchild, Park. She was greeted in heaven by her husband, Michael Joseph; her parents; her sisters; and many cousins and friends.

Jeanne will be deeply missed by all who loved her sass, her strong opinions, her intelligence, and her devotion to family. She lived fully, loved fiercely, and leaves behind a legacy of resilience, wit, and stories that will be told for generations to come.

We miss you already.
