Jeanne Gano Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 3, 2025.
Jeanne M. Gano, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 14, 1944, in New Brunswick, NJ, Jeanne was the beloved daughter of Stephen and Blanche (Miller) Austin. A proud graduate of Highland Park High School, Class of 1962, Jeanne went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from Somerset County Nursing School in 1972. Her nursing career spanned decades, with much of her time spent at Somerset Medical Center and Warren Hospital. Of all her roles, she especially cherished her time working in labor and delivery, where she found deep joy in welcoming new life into the world. While raising her children, Jeanne also took on the role of a school bus driver-a job she held with dedication and heart. In all things, Jeanne put family first. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her loved ones, whether gathered around a dinner table, relaxing at the beach, or singing in the choir at East Gate Presbyterian Church in Millsboro, where she was a devoted member. Jeanne had a spirited nature and a heart full of kindness. She always saw the good in people, knew how to enjoy life, and brought laughter wherever she went. She was known for her fun-loving personality and just a touch of mischief-her family affectionately says she could be "a lovable handful," and they wouldn't have had it any other way. Stories of her wild-at-heart adventures and infectious laughter will be cherished forever. In addition to her parents, Jeanne is preceded in passing by a son, Daniel in 1969, and her brothers: Stephen "Chet" Austin and Jeffrey Austin. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Robert Gano; her children: Donna Robicheau (Lloyd), Chris Reagan (Dara), and Andy Reagan (Erin); her step daughter, Jennifer Allen (Jim); her grandchildren: Austin, Mikey, Kylie, Cody, Ryleigh, Grace, Lucy, Madeline, and Leah; her great grandchildren: Chance, Blake, and one on the way; and her sister, Barbara Ayotte.
