Jeannette Henson

Sylvia Jeannette Henson, 84, of Clyde passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in an Abilene hospice facility. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Pastor Russ Ponder officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jeannette was born November 8, 1939, in Clanton, Alabama to Ollie and Minnie (Tracey) Powell. She graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore, Maryland. She moved to Abilene from Baltimore in February 1975 and married Howard Wayne "Turk" Henson in Abilene on November 27, 1980. She moved to Clyde in 1980, and she was a member of Cowboy Heritage Church. Jeannette worked as a secretary for Harken Oil & Gas for eight years. She previously worked for TDCJ at the Roberson Unit, retiring after eleven years.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Loyer of Clyde; grandchildren, Amy Wills and husband Forrest of Clyde and Sean Loyer and wife Meg of Abilene; three great grandchildren, Fallon and Finley Wills, Luke Bunton and Laikyn Loyer; niece, Brenda Ives and husband Mark of Lampasas; great niece, Victoria Milligan and husband Al and several other great nephews and nieces.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Minnie Powell; husband, Turk; one brother, Ollie Powell, Jr.; one sister, Louise Tucker, her son-in-law, Jeff Loyer; her great granddaughter, Callaway Loyer and niece, Gloria Martinez.
