Jeannine Marie Sozza Scott, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Keller, Texas. She was born on March 9, 1942, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Josephine Maruca, and spent most of her life in Carson City, Nevada.
A private Celebration of Life Service for Jeannine’s Texas family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. In Nevada, a Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 3000 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City, Nevada 89706. Entombment will follow immediately at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop Street, Carson City, Nevada 89701.
Jeannine was a woman of many joys and gentle talents. She loved dancing, singing, playing the piano, and enjoying games of bingo. She found great pleasure in playing cards with dear friends Jim and MaryLynn Atkins, and in chatting for hours and sharing adventures with her best friend Debbie Woodall. She also delighted in coloring and, most of all, cherished the time she spent surrounded by her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Renee Yackira and husband Michael; her daughter, Tracey Hudson; her sister, Jerrie Burnett and husband Mickey; her brothers, Joseph Maruca and wife Marie, John Maruca and wife Maureen, and Jim Maruca and wife Leah; her grandchildren, Mark Lacey and wife Carly, Shawn Hudson Jr. and wife Christina, Shawntay Macdonald and husband Johne, Alyssa Nelson and husband Matthew, Wyatt Hudson and wife Kaitlyn, and Catherine Yackira; and her great-grandchildren, Shawn Hudson III and Lucas Hudson.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her husbands, Rodney Sozza and Paul Scott; her parents, Joseph and Josephine Maruca; and her aunt, Elizabeth Russo.
