Jeff Fredrick Birdsong

Jeff Fredrick Birdsong, a lifelong resident of Linden, Texas, was a man deeply rooted in family, hard work, and the outdoors.

Jeff dedicated many years of his life working at Lone Star Steel, where he built not only a career but lasting friendships through his strong work ethic and steady presence.

He is survived by his loving daughter, April Kenward (Robert), and his cherished granddaughters, Reighann Lockett, Madalynn Price, Logan Kenward and Karley Kenward. He is also survived by his sisters, Rebecca Terry (John), Susan Hall; niece, Jennifer Jones (James); nephews, Michael Terry (Jackie), Daniel Terry (Brittney); great nieces, Kaitlynn Jones (Ethan), Kylee Terry; great nephews, Wesley Jones, Duke Terry and Jackson Terry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Birdsong, Deborah Birdsong, April's mother and his brother in law, Ken Hall.

Jeff was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his teams. When he wasn't watching football, you could find him outdoors- hunting, fishing and enjoying the simple pleasures of nature. He especially loved spending time with his longtime hunting and fishing buddies, James Jones and Michael Terry, whom he took great joy in teasing and aggravating.

Of all the roles he held in life, Jeff's favorite was being "Pawpaw". He loved his granddaughters deeply, and they were the pride and joy of his life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heritage Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care provided. A special thank you to nurses, Cendra and Kristen, and his aide, Jaz, for the kindness, comfort and attention they gave him.

Jeff will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of family and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Center Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
