Celebration of Life
Jeffrey "Jeff" Briddell, a resident of Snow Hill, Maryland, passed away peacefully at the age of sixty (60) on February 20, 2025, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on August 20, 1964, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Katie Mae and Richard M. Briddell, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his three brothers, Clifford W. Spady, Marvin L. Briddell and Richard M. Briddell, Jr., his maternal grandparents, Gertrude A. and James Walters and his paternal grandparents, Hattie and Roger Briddell.
Jeff was no stranger to an honest day's hard work. He spent many years at Showell Farms, one of the largest poultry companies in the country at the time. When the company was acquired by Perdue Farms in 1995, Jeff continued with them. Building on innate mechanical talent, he later went on to run his own lawn care and equipment repair service until his health began to decline. Jeff was always tinkering and fixing something.
A gentle soul, Jeff was quiet and unassuming. He grew up as the youngest of Miss Katie's boys in the close-knit community of Campbelltown, Maryland. Surrounded by family and lifelong friends, he spent his childhood next door to his MomMom and PopPop on one side, his late Aunt Mabel and cousins Jean, Gertrude, and his late cousin Wallace on the other side, more cousins across the street and just a short walk down Campbelltown Road from Curtis United Methodist Church, where his family attended services.
He loved his family and community dearly and was always there to lend a helping hand. In particular, he was a constant presence in his brothers' music and production companies, Maxx Axe Sound Systems and Too Hype Productions. It was there that he took on the name "Jazzy Jeff." And in his teen years, he was known for his breakdancing. No one in Campbelltown could backspin better than Jeff!
Jeff had a special love for animals, a passion that started early in life. As a boy, he cared for neighborhood cats, dogs, and any other animals that needed help. His heart especially belonged to his horse, Camanche, a gift from his PopPop, and the family dogs, Sadie and Hoggie. Decades later, his beloved chihuahua, Coco, would be the final pet to capture his heart.
Jeff is survived by: two aunts, Bertie Armstrong and Gwendolyn Briddell; an uncle, Charles Walters; three nieces, Chasity Goodman, Braia Spady-Knox and Deija Bowen; three nephews, Tyrone Spady, Shontay Goodman and Marvin Briddell, Jr. as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends.
