Jeffery Lynn Davis, 74, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong New Castle resident, Jeff was a proud graduate of the Walter P. Chrysler High School Class of 1970. He was a dedicated employee of the Dana Corporation, where he worked for many years until his retirement, and later enjoyed his time working at MEG in Cambridge City.
Jeff was a man who truly understood what mattered in life. He was comfortable in his own skin, knew exactly who he was, and didn’t need grand gestures or material things to be happy. Instead, he found his joy in the simple things. An avid outdoorsman, he was a fixture at Hardy or Westwood Lake. Whether he was boating in the summer, hunting and mushroom hunting in the woods, or ice fishing in the heart of winter, Jeff was most at home in nature. He loved the quiet of the morning (literally before coffee), the warmth of a campfire surrounded by family, and the steady rhythm of a life well-lived.
Above all, Jeff was a family man who expressed his love through action. He was always ready to lend a hand to a child or grandchild, whether it was helping with a house repair, fixing a car, or simply being there to offer a ride home from school. His steady presence and appreciation for life's simple pleasures leave lasting memories for all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janet Sue (Flynn) Davis of New Castle; three children, Christa Davis, Michelle Lynn (Michael) Hartwig of Bowling Green, KY, and Michael Shane Davis of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Derek Austin Davis, Tyler Michael Davis, Kaitlynn Marie Davis, Austin David Hartwig, Tammy Meece, Jessica Meece; and Toni Meece and one great-grandchild, Creed Alistair Aaron Davis, and one brother Gregory Lee (Martha) Davis of Greenfield. Several nieces & nephews. One furbaby, Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith Edward & Barbara Jane Davis. Pallbearers will be Michael Davis, Tyler Davis, Katie Davis, Michelle Hartwig, Austin Hartwig, and Gregory Gossett.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, IN. A graveside service will immediately follow at South Mound Cemetery (Westlawn) in New Castle, where Jeff will be laid to rest. Condolences and memories of Jeff may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
