Jeffery R. Herron, age 68, of Yankton, South Dakota died surrounded by his family on Friday, November 7, 2025 at his home.
Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Discovery Church in Yankton with Pastor Cory Kitch officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Monday, November 10 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation continues one hour prior to the Celebration of Life at the church.
Jeff was born August 19, 1957 in San Diego, CA to Donley and Joyce (Windedahl) Herron. The family later moved to Hot Springs, SD where he graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1975. He then attended SDSU in Brookings where he received a Pharmacy Degree in 1980. Jeff worked as a pharmacist in Faith, Rapid City, and Hot Springs, SD. He met Dawn Fassbender in Rapid City and they were later married on May 24, 1986. They moved to Yankton in 1990 where Jeff worked at the Human Services Center for 33 years, retiring as the Director of Pharmacy. Jeff enjoyed singing, fishing, camping, and boating until his health declined. He was an active member of Discovery Church where he enjoyed working as a sound technician and serving as an elder. Most of all, Jeff loved being a grandpa, treasured the time spent with his family, and showed his love for the Lord by serving others.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Dawn Herron of Yankton; three children: Becky (Jaimie) O’Neill of Sioux Falls, SD, Matthew (Leah) Herron of Spencer, IA, and Megan (Jon) Berry of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren: Dominic (Kenzie) O’Neill, Makayla O’Neill, Caiden, Jacek and Blakeley Herron, Will and Nicole Berry; and two great granddaughters, Demetra and Azalea O’Neill.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Paul Herron.
