Jeffery Leon McDanel, age 65, of Unionville, IA passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home.
Jeff was born on February 6, 1959, the son of Leon Glick McDanel and Bonnie Jean (Yonavich) McDanel. He graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1977. He continued his education spending 4 years studying business at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. On August 24, 1990, Jeff was united in marriage to Sheri Lynn Kaster. To this union, a son was born, J.D.
After college, Jeff put ceilings in sky scrapers in Dallas, Texas. He then moved back to Iowa for his concrete foundation business and farming. Most recently, he worked at Lee Container in Centerville as a maintenance technician. In his free time, Jeff enjoyed hunting, woodworking, carpentry, crop farming and Charolais cows.
Left to honor Jeff's memory are his wife, Sheri McDanel; his son, J.D. McDanel (Chelsie Fallis); his mother-in-law, Jane Kaster; his nephews, Chad McDanel, Shawn McDanel, and Kyle Baughman; his niece, Bailey Baughman; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Bonnie McDanel; and his siblings, Glenda Baughman and Stuart Shawn McDanel.
Per wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Memorials in honor of Jeff may be written to the Moravia First Responders, and can be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN McDanel Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
