Dr. Seyler was one of the best chemistry profs I have ever had. Anyone who got to know him at a personal level had the pleasure of hearing his 'case for angels,' citing the lack of electron density at the node of an orbital... He made the subject fun and interesting, and amazingly plowed us thru chem 162 (now 262 I believe) during a summer course. His animated, polite, professional and caring manner of teaching I will always remember. He is the reason I myself pursued chemistry and helped so many Chinese students overseas gain a better appreciation for the subject. Dr. Seyler will be greatly missed, leaving some huge shoes to fill in the chemistry department at USI.

Very shocked and sad to learn of Dr Seyler's passing. I was a student in one of his Chemistry classes more than a decade ago. His style of teaching was engaging, passionate, and even entertaining, which made Chemistry fun to learn. I remember visiting his office at times to ask questions about the course material, and he was very kind and always made time for us. Rest in peace, Dr Seyler. We all miss you very much...
