I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jeff´s untimely passing earlier this month. Jeff and I met in college at the University of Delaware. Our freshman year we had rooms around the corner from each other. As we became fast friends, we decided to room together for our last three years at UD. Jeff was a dedicated student- studying Mechanical Engineering he had to be. But of course, he also enjoyed the social side of college and we had a great group of friends while at UD. After college Jeff moved around a lot for work, and I recall his stories of traveling everywhere from Utah to the South Pacific for the Defense Department. I was at his wedding to Jen and they came to mine some years later. Our families got together a few times over the years but work eventually put us in different states and sometimes different countries. Jeff was one of the most successful UD graduates I knew and when talking to UD students about career options, I would mention how Jeff started as a DoD intern and rose all the way up through the civil service ranks. It´s a great story that I hope inspired a few of them to follow in his footsteps. I am going to miss Jeff and those opportunities we won´t have to talk about family, work, sports, and eventually grandkids. My thoughts and prayers are with him and the Brubaker family.

Jeff was a genuinely good guy, an engineer who helped make our lives safer by eliminating chemical weapons stored in bunkers at various sites throughout the United States, a present and responsive husband and father, an active member of his community and church, and most of all....the best brother-in-law I could have asked for.....Jeff, you were loved by many and will certainly be missed.

My thoughts and prayers to the Brubaker family during this difficult time. Jeff interviewed and hired me at BGCAPP in 2017. I had the privilege to both work for him and to work with him during our time at BGCAPP. As a boss, he always sought the input of his subject matter experts. I always appreciated how he respected my analysis on topics. If I had the regulations and facts to back my analysis, I always felt Jeff had my back if I ever received push back. I also appreciated how he conducted meetings. He was always on topic and never expanded the meeting any longer than it had to be. I can remember several 10 minute meetings that he chaired and I know all the members of the group appreciated that about him.
Jeff's contributions at BGCAPP was vital in helping the site to accomplish meeting the treaty deadline of completing the destruction of chemical weapons stored at Blue Grass Chemical Activity. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues in the Government Oversight section at BGCAPP.
While serving as the Site Project Manager, Jeff was quite generous during employee appreciation days and Christmas parties. One of my favorite organizational days was when Jeff took us to the Keeneland Race Track. He bought all the employees a food and beverage voucher to take care of our lunches and we all enjoyed a great day at the track.
Rest in peace Jeff. You will be sorely missed at the site. May God bless the Brubaker family and help them heal with their great loss.
