Jeffrey Domer Obituary

Jeffrey Blue Domer

September 27, 1946 - December 10, 2025

RACINE - Jeffrey Blue Domer passed away at St. Monica's Senior Living on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the age of 79. Jeff was born on September 27, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Ind., son of Alan and Bobbi (nee: Blue) Domer. Jeff attended one of the first special education programs at Columbus School in Cicero, Ill. and received a high school certificate of completion in 1964.

When the family moved to Racine in the summer of 1964, Jeff was enrolled in the Racine Opportunity Center and secured a job with Driver's Motors on Lathrop Ave as John's maintenance help, He worked there for several years and John became a close family friend. Jeff eventually made his way to Marc's Big Boy on Douglas Ave and worked there as a dishwasher and maintenance man until the restaurant closed and then he moved to Taylor Ave for several more years. When that Big Boy closed, Jeff was asked by his long time manager, Marilyn to help with dish washing and maintenance at other Southeastern Wisconsin Big Boy Restaurants until they all closed. Jeff then went to Marcus Cinemas in Racine, taking turns with training cleaning crews and doing maintenance until he retired from Marcus Corporation after 35 years.

He had many adventures with the Boys Club of Chicago and often went on trips to help out his brother Ric who was a youth counselor even after moving to Racine. One their favorite camping spots was Devils Lake in Wisconsin. After Jeff retired he spent time traveling with Bobbi and Alan and on Washington Island, Wisc. with his Aunt Marilyn Domer, staying with her for weeks at a time and visiting there with Bobbi and Alan. Jeff was a big hero when Alan and he were fishing on Lake Michigan in the Washington Island harbor when Alan had a heart attack in the boat and fell overboard. Jeff jumped in and pulled Alan up and over the boat side and yelled like crazy. Luck was with them that day and two coast guard members were fishing near there and got them both in their boat and called 911. Jeff acted like it was no big deal and said "welp, he fell out of the boat and I had to grab him."

Prior to moving to St. Monica's with Bobbi, Jeff was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was able to manage very well until recently with the support of Dr. Khati, Scott NP, and the St. Monica's staff. Jeff will be greatly missed by his friends at St. Monica's, especially Nancy as he resided there for 13 years. He was the self-appointed volunteer activities director, spending his day talking with other residents and staff and directing traffic through the front lobby. He always had a compliment for everyone. Jeff had a mind filled with the most interesting facts and trivia and and had a fondness for trains, rocks, Native American lore, puzzles and dinosaurs. He also had an amazing collection of movie DVDs.

Survivors include his brother, Greg (Barbara) Domer of Fond Du Lac, Wisc.; sister, Melanie (Jim) Chars of Sun Prairie, Wisc.; seven nephews and nieces, Scott, Daniel, David, Megan, Kirsten, Kyle and Becca; uncle, Ron Blue of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister-in-law, Jean Domer, of Sawyer, Mich.; special cousin, Eric (Angelica) Zickgraf of Skokie, Ill. who visited Jeff weekly and brought him pizza for lunch; cousins, Cathy, Julie, Chris, Angela, Tim (Susan) and Bob. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Bobbi and Alan Domer; brother, Ric Domer; sister, Shannon Domer; and other relatives.

Jeff was not interested in having a service since he said he wouldn't be around to talk to anyone. He suggested that people compliment each other and take a train ride to somewhere special. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Monica's Senior Living is suggested.

Special thanks to the staff at St. Monica's, especially Katia and Nicole, who have taken care of Jeff, put up with his opinions and helped him live a wonderful life all these years.

Yesterday

I am a P.E.O. sister of Jeff's mother Bobbi and his sister Melanie. I have known Jeff for many years. He was such a great host when we held our December meetings at their home. After moving to St. Monica's, he would always come in to greet us when we visited with his mother. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. There was always an exchange of a bit of knowledge shared the few times that I met with him. He lived a wonderful life at St. Monica's. Now he can join his Heavenly family.

Yesterday

I worked with Jeff at Marc's Big Boy on Durand ave. He was kind, funny and the hardest worker. He took his job seriously and made sure everything he did was perfect. I am happy to read he lived a full life.
