Jeffrey Feinstein Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary McCullough on Jan. 8, 2008.
Jeffrey Erwin Feinstein, age 58 of Dallas, Texas died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in New York City, N.Y. He was born on January 27, 1949 in San Antonio, TX. Jeff was a kind and loving husband, father, son, uncle, brother and friend. He was loved and admired by many people. He had a positive attitude and an amazing personal style that showed in his work and business. Jeff was Co-Founder of Houston based Tootsies. He was a sales representative and assisted with designing for Mia Shoes and was the Co-Owner along with his wife Patty of Dallas based Cotton Island. Jeff loved to travel and see new things; he actually enjoyed getting lost when driving in new cities. He would say “that’s how you discover new things”. He saw a quote the other day “If you wander off the path it doesn’t mean that you’re lost.” We laughed about it and said it sounded like Jeff. He was the best father to Lauren his one and only child. He was caring, patient, kind and she was the love of his life. Jeff was beyond words, the best husband, friend and many times a mentor to his wife of 25 years, Patty. He was a good son, brother and uncle, to his mother Etta and sisters, Donna and Karen and nephew, Chris. They loved him very much. He enjoyed many aspects of life and was always interested in learning new things. He loved exploring new cities, collected eclectic “Tzatzkas”, enjoyed fine wines and he loved his MAVS. He was a member of Temple Emanuel in Dallas. Jeff also will be missed by his beloved dogs and cat, Harley, Nash and Snickers. It is impossible to describe the emptiness we all are feeling right now. But he would want us all to keep moving forward one step in front of the other. He will always be in our heart and prayers. He is preceded in death by his father, Morris Feinstein. Survivors: wife, Patty Malyk Feinstein; daughter, Lauren Michelle Feinstein, both of Dallas, TX; mother, Etta Feinstein, San Antonio, TX; sisters, Karen Feinstein, Dallas, TX and Donna Stein; nephew, Christopher Stein, both of San Antonio, TX.Pallbearers: Sam O’Krent, Ken O’Krent, Mike O’Krent, Tom Wernick, Ron Feinstein, Harry Krantz, Chris Stein, Jack Zoblotsky and Gene Sawyer.

Dear Patty,
I just received a tearful call from Scot today about our old friend. When I think of you both I just remember being fortunate enough to know 2 people that were so easy going and a total joy to be around. My thoughts are with you and your family. With love,

We will remember him as a friend and a neighbor who loved to take evening walks with his beloved dog, Harley. He always greeted us warmly and had something both interesting and funny to say. I will really miss his great sense of humor at our monthly poker games. We feel very lucky to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you during your time of grief.

I must say, it has been a pleasure to have worked with Jeff...His gracefull way of presenting something as simple as a shoe, handbag or T-shirt, his mild mannered approach and particularly his keen sense of knowing "The Next Best Thing"...way before anyone else could see it!!...always made me feel comfortable and excited at the same time....Jeff was thoughtfull, kind ,he shared and was even a little ornery...you have to be ,to be in the wholesale & retail business...I hope as time moves forward that the pain turns to celebration, having had the opportunity to share time with Jeff.
Warmest Regards
