LIMA - Jeffrey Lee Handshoe, 69 of Lima, passed away March 25, 2026, at his home.
Jeffrey was born October 10, 1956, in Lima, to Theodore Handshoe and Sylvia (Stephens) Poe; his father preceded him in death and his mother survives him.
Jeff was a 1975 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He worked as a welder at Superior Coach and then went on to continue his career at General Dynamics until his retirement. Jeff was a proud member of the UAW 2075.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State football fan. Jeff was always happiest riding his Harley and he enjoyed fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jeff will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his mother, Jeff is survived by his children, Amy (Robert) Yochum and Joshua (Jessica) Handshoe; grandchildren, Austin Bice, Rachel Evans, Brooke Lehman, Emily Handshoe, Tyler Handshoe, Abby Handshoe, Addison Yochum, Melanie Jeanneret and Krista Hartman; one great-granddaughter on the way; sister, Deb (Chuck) Gronas; brother, Doug Handshoe; sister-in-law, Terry Handshoe; his former wife and life-long friend, Barbara Handshoe; several nephews and his best friend and dog, Bandit.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Handshoe, Jr.; stepfather, Lunda Poe; nephew, Mark Handshoe, and his dogs, Cisco, Charlie, and Lucky.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Shawnee Chapel with Rev. Lori Wright to officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Deb's Dogs.
