Jeffrey Kolk

Kolk, Jeffrey, age 46, of Glen Rock, on Friday, August 26, 2022. Born in Ilion, NY, Jeffrey lived much of his life in Hawthorne and had lived in Highland Lakes before moving to back to Hawthorne and then to Glen Rock. He was a teacher at Lincoln Middle School in Hawthorne, where he taught 8th Grade Math. Jeffrey was an active member of the community and had served as the Hawthorne High School Golf coach and the Lincoln Middle School soccer coach. He also coached his daughters softball teams and was involved with the Leadership Camp at Lincoln Middle School.
Jeffrey loved animals, especially his two cats, Putter and Wedge, as well as Travis the turtle. He was an avid nature lover, who could tell you a bird by its call. He loved hiking, traveling, craft beer, concerts and participating in fundraisers. He was an extremely dedicated family man, who often babysat his nephews and nieces. Jeffrey always had a smile on his face and was always laughing. He loved the NY Mets, golfing with his Dad and his brothers and coaching numerous school and town sports. Jeffrey was always there to lend a helping hand and often assisted family with major home improvements. He could renovate a kitchen or bathroom better than a skilled interior designer. We will miss him more that words can express. It s difficult to put in writing just how special Jeffrey was and will always be to his family, friends, peers and students.
Jeffrey was the beloved fianc of Ellen Kreps of Glen Rock and devoted father to their daughters, Madeleine and Emerson. He loved being a girl dad! Loving son of Susan Kolk of Hawthorne and Bob Kolk and his wife Gail of North Haledon. Dear grandson of Gladys Christensen. Dearest brother of Christopher Kolk and his wife Jill of Rockaway and Jim Nienhouse and his wife Vanessa of North Haledon. Cherished uncle of Trevor, Lily, Tyler, Kayla and James. Jeffrey is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 4:00pm - 7:30pm.
