Jeffrey I. Lee, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 3:12 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Athens, Ohio on September 17, 1941, to the late Clayton M. and Kathryn G. (Irvin) Lee.
On March 27, 1998, he married Sandra (Rayles) Lee, and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughters, Kristol L. (Scott) Short and Sandra (Casey) Lee Williams; stepchildren, Tonia (Paul) McCullough, and Misty (James) Lethcoe; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Daniel Bushong; and niece and nephew, Danielle Healy, and Darrin Bushong.
Along with his parents, Jeffrey was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Bushong, and stepson, James Simpson.
Jeffrey graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He owned and operated Lee Surveying and Mapping until he sold the business and retired. Jeffrey was a life member and former president of the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio. Additionally, he was an active member of Kiwanis and Elks organizations. As an avid collector, Jeffrey was part of the Antique Button Society, and he also served on the board of the Girl Scouts of America. He had a passion for storytelling, history, and continuous learning, enthusiastically sharing his knowledge with others. Jeffrey was a dedicated husband, father, and stepfather, and he contributed to raising children beyond his immediate family. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
Pastor Isaac Fletcher Pennymon will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. A visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral from 12Noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral at Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
