Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cox Funeral Home - Manchester on Jan. 13, 2026.
Jeffrey Paul McDaniel, 61, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at his residence.
"Jeff", as he was best known by all, was born on June 28, 1964 in Warm Springs, a beloved son of Raymond Rex McDaniel and Emily Grace Moore McDaniel. He was raised and grew up in Shiloh, where early childhood friendships evolved into lifelong friendships as they grew up together. Growing up he, along with his brothers, were taught by their father how to operate the family saw mill. Jeff attended Tri-County Academy before graduating from Flint River Academy in 1982. He earned a basketball scholarship to Columbus State College. After school, Jeff embarked upon a long career as a skilled cabinet maker and carpenter which began in Macon before returning to this area.
Jeff was a wonderfully simple man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed riding the back roads of Harris, Meriwether and Talbot counties, and he'd probably tell you he's traversed them all. Jeff loved his dogs deeply. Each afternoon, he would take them out to run. He treasured this time with his beloved Daisy, June, Julie, and Auggie. Jeff loved to cook, something he learned from his mother and Grandmother Moore. He was known for his Pecan Pie, among many other favorite dishes. A natural green thumb, Jeff loved to raise and tend a garden. He loved researching his family history and local genealogy. Music was a big part of Jeff's life, particularly Pink Floyd. He also loved to watch quiz shows, especially "Jeopardy!". Above all, he loved his family. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all. The loving memories created with the most important people in his life will always be held in a special place in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother-in-law, Tom Helton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra K. McDaniel of Manchester; children, Lauren (Phil) Flynn of Manchester; Ben McDaniel of Atlanta; Sarah (Alex) Brown of Auburn, AL; siblings, Billy (Sue) McDaniel, Laura Jean Helton, Scott (Ellen) McDaniel, and Alan (Connie) McDaniel, all of Shiloh; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home - Manchester. The family will hold a private memorial service on the land Jeff loved so much.
