In Loving Memory of Jeffrey "Cowboy" Powell
August 15, 1950 - July 11, 2023
Jeffrey Dale Powell, of Albuquerque, NM lost his nine year battle with dementia on July 11, 2023 at the age of 72.
Born in El Paso, TX to Harry and Shirley Powell. Jeff grew up with his brothers, Roger, David, Donald, Mark and Eric known as the "Powell Boys" in Tularosa, New Mexico. Even in his final days, Jeff was asking about Tulie. It is where he always considered home.
When Jeff wasn't running his successful plumbing and heating business; he was taking his three kids, Bridget, Lindsey, and Zach to their dance recitals, spending weekends at the race track and coaching their soccer teams. There was not much Jeff wouldn't do for his kids. He even went as far as cutting off 14 inches of his infamous gray hair to incentivize winning a soccer tournament.
Jeff was a proud, loving grandfather to his four grandchildren, Zoe, Oliver, Owen, and Blake. Although they did not get to experience him in his full capacity, he loved being a grandpa.
In his spare time he enjoyed a good poker game with friends, a rare steak and of course fixing that old boat. Who can forget that boat?
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Alice Powell; father, Harry M Powell; brothers, David Powell and Roger Powell; and sister- in-law, Sylvia "Dink" Powell. He is survived by his brothers, Donald Powell, Mark Powell and wife Kim, and Eric Powell and his wife Cindy Reece. Jeff's surviving children are daughter Bridget Cohn and her husband Billy Cohn, daughter Lindsey Allen and her husband Nathan Allen, and son Zachary Powell and his wife Stacie Powell. Jeff's beloved grandchildren are Zoe Cohn, Oliver Cohn, Owen Powell, and Blake Powell. His grandpups are Boss, Paisley, and Trent Alexander. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jeff will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His playful nature, willingness to lend a helping hand, and dedication to his family and friends will forever be remembered.
Please help us celebrate the life of Jeffrey on Friday, July 21st at French Funeral Home, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, with a casual reception from 6-8 PM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Jeff's life and sharing their memories and classic stories with his favorite food on hand.
