We had too much fun fishing late at night after Jeff got off work at Silver Shores. Warm summer nights were great when we were kids. One day I will find some photos.

I can't believe Jeff is gone. We just Googled him back in May and found he was in Cleveland.

I grew up with Jeff at Conneaut Lake, PA. My grandfather lived one house away from his grandparents house/cottage. I knew the whole family, his dad, mom, Dave, aunt Carol, grandma and granddad. We used to go waterskiing, swimming and all kinds of stuff. We played the bucket game on their dock. Dave was the best bucketer.

When he was in high school, he worked at Silver Shores as a bus boy. A few of us would meet up with him after work and go down on the dock and fish or go out in the boat after he got off of work. I remember the night he took off in the boat before the rear dock line was unhooked and snapped the "rubber stubber" in half (a rubber connector that allowed the boat to have more movement in waves while docked). We used to play wiffle ball down on the street (not much traffic). We used to get a lot of entertainment out of Robbie Succup and Dr Succup (their cottage was between my grandpa's and Jeff's grandpa's.)

Another game we played down at his grandparents dock was Pass Interception. The QB would be standing in waist deep water, the receiver and intercepter each stood on a tire on a different post on the dock. Again, Dave was probably the best QB.

Jeff's family moved to southeast of Pittsburgh from Cleveland. They would come up to the Lake on weekends and extended holidays. I remember looking forward to when they came up. Of course, they spent all summer at the grandparents' place at Conneaut Lake.

His grandparents were the best people. I remember his grandpa coming to my grandpa's funeral. Jeff's grandpa, George Laughlin, would stop to take his pulse when you asked him how he was doing. After a few seconds, he would say "I'm still alive". I heard a few stories about the poo-poo cushion too.

I remember visiting him at his frat house at Allegheny College in Meadville. Also, once he graduated, I visited him in Warren PA just before I moved to NC. He and one of his frat brothers (can't remember his name, just very red hair) worked for Wendy's in Warren and then opened a woman's clothing store there, The Top Shop.

I lost touch with Jeff after I moved to NC. We didn't have Facebook back then.

Oh well, this is long. I could write a book. I couldn't find any good photos of him, only one where he was far away from the camera.

i knew JP as a fraternity brother from Alpha Chi Rho at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.

JP was one of kind! He was a great friend, shrewd observer of the human condition, and above all had a sense of humor that can only be described as epic.

I extend my sincerest and heartfelt condolences to his family and our fellow Crows.
