Jeffrey Wayne Roberts passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 5, 2026. Though his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer came only days earlier, Jeff faced the end of his life with the same strength, wit, and spirit that defined him throughout his years.
Jeff was born on May 3, 1963, to Roland and Shirley Roberts. He grew up in Upton, where he graduated from high school in 1981. After high school, Jeff continued his education at Casper College and later at the University of Wyoming. Over the years he built a diverse career, much of it centered around the meat processing industry. This line of work suited Jeff perfectly, as it paired naturally with his love of food.
Jeff had a remarkable talent in the kitchen and took great pride in his cooking. His skills spanned the full range of comfort and culinary craft—from perfectly prepared prime rib and steaks to homemade caramels and rich New York cheesecakes. Sharing good food was one of the ways Jeff showed love to those around him.
Jeff will be remembered for his sharp intelligence, generous spirit, quick humor, and his love of a good debate. He never shied away from a lively conversation and had a way of making people think while still making them laugh. Jeff enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and a good game of cribbage. He was also skilled with automotive repair and could often be found tinkering under the hood, helping friends and family keep their vehicles running.
Jeff is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Rikki Roberts of Cheyenne, and Joshua and Rachel Roberts of Gillette; and by his twelve grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings and their families: James and Cherie Roberts of Loveland, Colorado, and Jennifer and Kevin Shunn of Carrollton, Georgia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Roberts; his parents, Roland and Shirley Roberts; his brother, Jared Roberts; and his niece, Rolyn Roberts.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Friday, March 13 at 10:00 am at the Upton Community Center, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance.
