Guest Book
Grateful Dead fans, Jets and Bills fans, and Twizzler enthusiasts alike mourn the loss of Jeffrey Singer, who passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 61. A native New Yorker with a love for snacks, proper New York City bagels, and a football team that "builds character," Jeff left this world at St. Mary's Hospital at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Hershey's Twizzlers division is bracing for a fourth quarter dip in sales without their most enthusiastic consumer.
Born on May 1, 1963, in Flushing, New York, to Anne and Marcel Singer, who are likely welcoming him now with open arms, Jeff was a devoted fan of Fantasy Football, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and the New York Jets (despite the stress they all put on his heart). He brought humor and warmth to everything he did, balancing a career with his passion for good stories and good snacks.
Jeff was devoted friend of Bill W. and a Big Book Thumper. He saved many lives with his devoted work with the addicted near and far. With 35 years sobriety, Jeff was a member in good standing and attended meetings and embraced both in person and online meetings.
Jeff earned his Master's in Library Sciences from Syracuse University and spent his career as a librarian between the Little Falls Public Library and the Bradford County Library. Known for his encyclopedic knowledge, quick wit, and a questionable but endearing fondness for filing systems, he was beloved by patrons and colleagues alike.
Jeff loved trivia and collected facts and his recall was amazing. He could play drop the needle with all Classical Music naming all pieces within the first few bars.
Jeff was an avid reader of obituaries saying "They are great little biographies."
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Singer, his stepchildren Lucinda and Charles Wells and daughter-in-law Ruby Gao. He is also survived by his 5 siblings, Debbie Singer Pires, Stuart Singer and wife Teresa, Bruce Singer and wife Cheryl, Linda Singer Beckerman and husband Howard, Karen Singer Swisa and husband Pinchas.
He is also survived by 3 very special people, Bill Tillman, Keith Scheurman, and a chosen sister Elaine Passineau.
We would like to mention 2 special Physicians at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Carol Warnes and Dr. William Miranda, both whose care added many quality years to Jeff's life.
A graveside remembrance and celebration of Jeff's life will be held on November 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve, Newfield, NY . Those who wish to honor Jeff's memory are encouraged to bring a bag of Twizzlers, a pint of Ben & Jerry's, and the lyrics to their favorite Grateful Dead song. He would have wanted it that way.
In memory of Jeff, donations will be appreciated to the Poverello Fund at Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905
Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Singer family.
