Jeffry Lynn Tarkington

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffry Lynn Tarkington on November 8, 2025. Born in Searcy, Arkansas on August 27, 1949, Jeff was the cherished son of the late Horace Eugene Tarkington and Edna Baker Tarkington.
Jeff graduated from Searcy High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Memphis. He began his professional life with chapters in New York and Dallas before returning to his hometown to help manage the family business. As the esteemed Vice President of Truman Baker Chevrolet, he was a dedicated and integral part of the local business community.
A man of intellect and kindness, Jeff will be remembered for his thoughtful nature and his passions, particularly his profound love for his dogs, who were a constant source of joy and companionship throughout his life.
He leaves behind a loving family: his brother, James Frederick Tarkington, and sister-in-law, Kim Bates Tarkington; his nephew, James Preston Bates Tarkington, and niece, Terri Lynn Tarkington Milligan; along with a great-nephew and great-nieces. He also leaves behind many cherished friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held on November 12, 2025 at 2pm at Gum Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Searcy, 112 Johnston Road Searcy, AR, 72143 Attn: Pam.
