Jennie Holmes Obituary
BAY - Jennie Kittrell Holmes was born in Augusta, on Sept. 28, 1941, and passed from this life on Aug. 5, 2025. In 1959 she graduated from Wynne High School and moved to Jonesboro to attend Arkansas State College, graduating in 1962 with a BSE Degree.
She and Winston Holmes were married in 1961 and made their home in the Bay area where they farmed and raised their family. Jennie was a full-time mom while also helping on the family's farm, serving on the Bay School Board and the Craighead County-Jonesboro Library Board of Trustees, and volunteering as a tutor in the Bay Public School System for 20 years.
Later in life she took pleasure in her family and in traveling to the National Parks, the Baltic Sea area, and the central part of Europe. Other joys in her life were weekly "Girls Day Out" with friends from Bay, enjoying her grandsons on "Friday Nights at Jen Jen's," and get-togethers with high school friends, "The Fair Oaks Girls."
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Chris and Adele Holmes of Benton, her daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Steve Davis of Bay, and grandsons Drace Boon of Conway and Conner Boon of Jonesboro. Her husband Winston Holmes, mother Priscilla Kittrell, and brother Tommy Kittrell, preceded her in death.
There will be no formal services. Family and friends are invited to gather for a casual celebration of Jennie's life on Friday, Aug. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at her home on 600 Fielder St. in Bay. It is requested that there be no food or flowers brought, but please do bring pictures and stories to tell.
Any donations may be directed to the Bay United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Dear Wendy and Chris. I just saw the message from Cousin Ralph about your Mom. She was a wonderful cousin. She sent much information concerning family history and am so grateful. The information is treasured. We had many laughs over the phone. I loved her laugh and funny stories. My sympathy for your Mom´s loss.she will be missed by so many.

Wendy and Chris, I was so sorry to hear about Jenny Lynn´s passing. I have such wonderful memories of her growing up. She was my favorite relative on my mother´s side, Genie Wells. She was so good at keeping the cousins in touch with each other. My sister Judy and I loved getting together with her or just chatting on the phone. She had the best sense of humor and so full of life. The last time we talked, we talked about the KC Chiefs and she was quite a fan. She will be missed. Fondly, Lee

I happened to see Jennie Holmes obituary the last name caught my eye my maiden name is Holmes only I don't think there is a connection of kinship but the obituary said she had outings with " The Fair Oaks Girls" and that got my attention because I grew up in Fair Oaks so it just made me wonder who the " Fair Oaks Girls" were since I knew about everyone there i didn't want to say all that without saying I'm sorry about your loved one may God be with the family.
