Mrs. Jennie Mae Shivers passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare Cooper in Saginaw, Michigan, at the blessed age of 94 years. She was born April 24, 1930, in Jacks Creek, Tennessee, to Columbus and Bertie Ross.

Jennie Mae and Charlie Shivers celebrated the rites of matrimony in 1949. He passed away in November of 2000 after 51 years of wedded bliss. Mrs. Shivers was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, having relocated from Humbolt, Tennessee, in 1953. She was a member of Jacob’s Ladder Ministries in Saginaw. Jennie Mae was self-employed for over 30 years. She enjoyed going fishing with her husband and grandchildren and loved going to Bingo with her sisters and friends. Jennie Mae looked forward to traveling with family and spending time with her Ann Arbor, Michigan family. 

A legacy of wonderful memories and the impact on their lives will be cherished and treasured by her daughters: Jessie Mae Humes of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Dorothy Shivers-Harmon, and Beverly Shivers both of Saginaw; sons: Danny Shivers and Roosevelt Shivers both of Saginaw; grandchildren: James Shivers Jr. of Arlington, Texas, Salena Shivers (whom she raised) of Canton, Michigan, Tanzania “Tonya” Wyatt, Charles Humes Jr. and Marquetia Humes, all of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Danielle “Dan” (Sharvela) Bibbs, Westland, Michigan, Shauntelle (Cooley) Shivers-Cooley, Atlanta, Georgia, Trianyta “Tria” Peoples, Saginaw, Michigan, Huedell, Shavell, and Jasper Shivers, and Javon Thorne, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Christina Douglas, Detroit, Michigan, and other dearly loved grandchildren; Mrs. Shivers also leaves an abundance of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Shivers was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus and Bertie Ross; her husband, Charlie Shivers; her children, James Shivers Sr., Waymen Shivers, and Hayes Douglas; granddaughters, Erica Douglas and LaShonda Shivers, and great-granddaughter, Shatoria Shivers; five sisters and their spouses, Mary (McCoy “Car”) Greer, Josie (Luke) Franklin, Irene (James) Jones, Junell (Booker T. “T”) Shivers, Martha (Floyd) Frame; seven brothers and their spouses, Vinton Ross, Eddie Ross, Thomas (Roxie) Ross, Finn (Edna) Ross, John (Roxanna) Ross, Hayes (Marlene) Ross, and Francis (Lois) Ross; daughter-in-law, Bertha Douglas; sons-in-law, Robert Harmon and Charles Humes Sr.
