MOUNT PLEASANT - Jennifer Dorothy, 69, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, July 10, 2023, at her residence.
Jennifer was born August 26, 1953, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Glen and Pauline (Volmer) Payne. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1971. A few short years later, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Jennifer was united in marriage to Allen Dorothy on February 23, 1974. Allen and Jennifer made Mount Pleasant their home, where Jennifer worked at Alaniz Inc for 20 plus years before becoming a rural post office carrier. Jennifer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed shopping, doing crossword puzzles and could often be found joy riding on side by sides or snow mobiles. Jennifer loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Jennifer is survived by her husband Allen; three sons, Jason Dorothy of Mount Pleasant, Josh (Julie) Dorothy of Dunlap, IL, Justin (Emily) Dorothy of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren Autumn, Isabelle, Ben, Tate, Carsen, Aubree; and one great grandson Axton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Janet.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Trey Hegar officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, at the Olson-Powell Chapel and Crematory. The family will be present to greet friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for All God’s Creatures.
