Jennifer Helms, 45, passed away on November 19, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana after a lengthy illness. Born on June 8, 1979, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Jennifer was a beacon of kindness and compassion, always putting the needs of others before her.
After earning a bachelor’s degree as Valedictorian from the IU School of Nursing, Jennifer answered her calling as a nurse. Her career was defined by her unwavering commitment to providing care and support to those in need. She was known not only for her professional skills but also for her kind and caring personality, which left a lasting impression on both her colleagues and patients alike.
Jennifer found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. She loved traveling, reading, attending concerts, and participating in Bible study, often spending her free time exploring new places and seeking knowledge.
Jennifer's proudest accomplishment was her marriage to her beloved husband, Christopher W. Helms, whose companionship and support were invaluable to her. She is deeply mourned by her husband. She is also survived by her mother, Doris Mays of Greenwood; two uncles, Martin (Moira) Baker (Knoxville, TN) and David (Kay) Baker (Phoenix, AZ); cousins, Ashley, Amanda, as well as three nieces and two nephews.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her stepfather, William Mays, her maternal grandparents, Glen and Susie Baker, and her beloved aunt, Brenda Baker.
The memory of Jennifer will be honored with a service at Greenwood Christian Church, located at 2045 Averitt Rd, Greenwood, Indiana, on December 4, 2024. The viewing will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
Jennifer Helms will be remembered for her enduring spirit, compassionate heart, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched throughout her career and personal life.
