Jerill was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 7th, 2025. She was born on July 18, 1946, in Haynesville, Louisiana, and lived a life marked by love, service, and joy.
A devoted member of New Light Baptist Church, Jerill's faith guided her daily life. She served her community in many ways, including through her work as a Ouachita Parish school bus driver for more than 30 years.
Music brought Jerill joy, and she loved playing the piano, often filling the room with hymns and melodies that reflected her heart. She also enjoyed competitive bowling. Through bowling, Jerill found not only a hobby she enjoyed but also lifelong friendships. The laughter and connection she shared with her teammates became a treasured part of her life, and those friendships remained a source of joy and support throughout the years.
Most of all, Jerill treasured her family and the moments spent with them. Jerill loved her husband, Alvis, fiercely, and together they shared a bond that was unwavering through every season of life. He stood faithfully by her side in sickness and in health, caring for her with devotion and love. Their marriage was a true example of commitment and partnership, and the strength of their love was evident to all who knew them.
There was always a deep and unshakable bond between Jerill and her daughter, Cherie-a connection marked by love, respect, and devotion. Their relationship was not only that of mother and daughter but also of best friends, confidants, and constant support. That bond only grew stronger when Cherie stepped into the role of caregiver, surrounding her mother with the same love and care Jerill had once given her.
Jerill's greatest joy was being "Granny." Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into every moment with them. Whether celebrating their milestones, offering her wisdom, or simply sharing laughter, she found deep happiness in their presence. Her love for them was unconditional, and the bond they shared will remain a lasting gift in their lives.
Although Jerill faced a long and difficult battle with Parkinson's disease, she never allowed it to define her. She remained stubborn in the best of ways, sassy when the moment called for it, and fiercely independent in spirit. Even as her body needed more help, her sharp wit, sense of humor, and vibrant personality never wavered. Parkinson's may have challenged her physically, but it could never take away her dignity, her pride, or her ability to light up a room.
Jerill was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Myrtle Moody; brother, Merill Moody; and son, Daryl Arnold. She leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Alvis Arnold; daughter, Cherie Day; grandchildren, Mattie and Megan Day.
Pallbearers will be Ray Moody, Chad Day, Nathan Rhodes, Seth Sharp, Shelia Spillers, and Rodney Harrison. Honorary Pallbearer will be Carl Parker.
