Jerilynn A Hicswa

Jerilynn "Jerri" Hicswa, of Vernon, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at Preakness Healthcare Center. She was 78 years old.

Born on March 24, 1947, in Warwick, Jerri was the daughter of the late Milton "Jerry" and Elinor Rippon. She spent her early childhood in Upper Greenwood Lake, NJ, where her parents operated the Mount Laurel Lodge until her father's passing in 1952. Following that loss, Jerri and her family relocated to Paterson, where she later graduated from St. Mary's High School.

Jerri began her working career at Meyer Brothers Department Store and later with the Passaic County Welfare Board. After moving to Vernon in 1969 the first woman employed by Great Gorge Playboy Club Hotel. She went on to serve as Sales Administrator there for seven years, earning respect for her professionalism and dedication.

Her career continued in hospitality when she worked for the developer of the Hayloft Restaurant, eventually becoming General Manager, a role she held with pride and distinction for seven years.

Jerri was predeceased by her parents and her beloved sister, Terri, in 2012. She was also predeceased by her cherished 17-year-old dachshund, Monty, who brought immeasurable joy and companionship to her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, George Hicswa; several loving nieces and nephews; and her especially beloved niece, Christina Polizzo, who held a special place in her heart.

By Jerri's request, there will be no funeral service, and cremation will be private.
