Watertown, WI - Jerome Paul David was taken home to heaven to be with his Savior Jesus on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 90. Jerry was born at home on June 8, 1935, to Paul and Cecile (nee Tuschen) David in Watertown, WI. He was baptized, confirmed and a life-long member at St. Henry's Catholic Church. Jerry attended St. Henry's parish school and Watertown High School, graduating in 1953. He then served in the Army for two years in Korea. He returned to Watertown and worked for 50+ years at the family store, Charles David's Sons, first working for his father and uncle and later as owner of the business with his brother, John. He loved his work at "the paint store" and his customers were very important to him. He was extremely dedicated as a professional painter, wallpaper hanger and glazier, often times putting in long hours.
On August 8, 1959, he was married to Susan nee Justmann of Watertown and they began their 66 years of married life, living and working in Watertown, raising a family, and enjoying many friends and relationships.
In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Jerry enjoyed downhill skiing, music and dancing, playing tennis, fishing, and scuba diving. Jerry and Sue especially cherished their skiing trips with Dick and Dee Schumann and their fishing adventures with Butch and Karen Bredow. Jerry also played on a men's traveling basketball team in the 1960s called the Stags, and was a member of the American Legion #189, Watertown Elks #666, Watertown Tennis Association, and Watertown Dance Club. Jerry appreciated a good brandy Manhattan and a quality cigar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and 2 brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Susan; their four children: Linda (Bryan) Beers, and their daughter Brianna Beers; Leah (Daniel) Leyrer, and their children Erin Burmeister, Lauren (Nathan) Gartner, and Allison (Martin) Johston; Robert (Mary Klauer) David, and Laurie (Rick) Langbecker, and their children Charles Langbecker and Emilie (Braden) Lilly; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister; a brother-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
