Jerome Lamont Nix, aged 91, of Mellen, Wisconsin, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Essentia Health–St. Mary's Medical Center of Duluth, Minnesota. Jerome was born on March 16, 1934, in Strum, WI, to James and Olive (Gooder) Nix.

On March 17, 1954, he married his wife of 68 years, Lauretta Mae (Benner) Nix, in Brackett, WI. Jerome and Lauretta farmed in Highbridge for over 20 years, while also raising their family. Jerome also worked in other industries throughout his life, including logging and at the mill. After retirement, he focused on his many hobbies, including woodworking, reading, spending time with his family, and traveling. In his travels, he visited 49 states.

Jerome is survived by his children, John Nix of Hurley, WI, and Don Nix of Custer, WI, and grandchildren: Jennifer (Gavin) Nix-McGerald of Clearwater, FL; Travis Nix of Plover, WI; Robert Trimble of Brookings, SD; Kelsey Nix of Duluth, MN; and Bailey Nix of Stevens Point, WI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lauretta, and his four daughters: Carol, Julie, Jeanette, and Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mellen, WI with Fr. Sunder Vadireddy as Celebrant.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., at the church in Mellen and continue until the hour of service. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Highbridge, WI. Lunch will be served at Holy Rosary after services.
