I met Jerry Rau at Oak Center, MN, one night as Bill Staines was on stage. After Bill's show, we had dinner together. When he learned I am French, he told me how deep he was in love with Joan of Arc - his visits to Reims and Rouen, how he let go in the Seine River a stone from Domremy with Joan's ring replica attached to it, so that the ring may reunite with Joan's ashes. So authentic, so moving. R.I.P., Jerry. Condolences to your family.

I wish to offer my condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Jerry Rau. I see from his obituary that he served in the U. S. Army Reserves and Marine Corps. I am always grateful for those who have served to protect our country. Besides serving in the military, he worked to promote peace as a member of the local chapter of veterans for Peace. I feel his greatest contributions have come from his work as an entertainer. I can attest that in these trying times, music is a great medicine for those of us who are worried about our health and feel isolated from friends and family.
