My first meeting with Jerry I was a recruit warden under Randy Stark. We were working boating and fishing enforcement near Baldwin, WI. I saw the best of him during that experience. On another occasion we were checking fishermen from atv's. Jerry was wearing shorts, no shirt and his duty revolver. Still the same mild demeanor but my eyebrows raised at the sight. He was always nice to me and that's what I remember the most.

When I first started with the DNR I worked for Fish Mgt at Dodgeville. I also worked as a Special Warden for Jerry. He taught me a lot about the job. We were sent north for the fish run in the spring of 1975 and worked hard getting lots of cases. Another time on opening night of coon season I was sent to check out hunter lights in a wooded area of Iowa County. Jerry told me what to do and behold some early hunters were cited for their actions. These and many more made for a fun time working with Jerry. The experiences gained while working with Jerry helped me develop my career as a Conservation Warden. Thanks Jerry for the lessons well learned.

My first connection with Jerry was of him chasing ag spray planes with his squad car for "over spray" in windy conditions in central WI. After I was on assignment in Sauk Country, I got my butt chewed out by a farmer at the Spring Green Ranger Station for some arrest that I knew nothing about as I had only been there a few weeks.
Turns out the farmer thought I was Jerry who had recently left the area. Took one for Jerry!!! Rest in peace brother!!! Pat Harkins

Jerry and I worked together many times as he was in Amery and I was in Rice Lake. I have many fond memories of us working together. In retirement we would get together for coffee several times a a year. I am saddened at the loss of a fellow Warden and good friend

I remember Jerry as a mentor when we worked together, he in Dodgeville and me in Darlington, and again in the Northwest District, as it was called back then. He taught me a lot. Many fond memories.
