Jerrilyn Davis Obituary

Visit the Magleby Mortuary - Richfield website to view the full obituary.

Jerrilyn (Jerri) was born on October 03, 1933, to Chester Thomas and Mary Sevy Johnson during the height of the "Great Depression" and grew up on the Johnson farm in Elsinore, where every day living was very hard, but the Johnson family had enough food to survive the times, because the family grew all their own food.

Jerri was the oldest of four children born to this family. Sharon came 18 months later, and the two of them were close and shared many friends from the Elsinore neighborhood, their cousins, and school. Fourteen years later, a son was born to their family, Chet, and fourteen months later, Johnny. The young boys were the apple of their father's eye, with two older sisters to dote over them.

Jerri was popular and very sociable and felt she needed to attend as many social events as possible from a young age and held that same mentality the rest of her life... going to every social event that came her way up until the time of her death... she did not want to miss out on anything.

Jerri was blessed with the gift of being able to play music by ear... if she listened to a song a couple of times, she could play it. Jerri was also a gifted writer. For several years, Jerri wrote the Annabella Ward Christmas Eve program, with songs of the season and dancers; each year was different and had an element of surprise for those who came to watch.

Jerri also wrote many "Road Show" skits over the years for the young men and young women of the Annabella Ward to compete in the Monroe, Utah, Stake road show competition. Jerri also took several groups of young men and women to the LDS church's annual Dance Festival in Salt Lake City, to dance on the University of Utah's football field. For many years, Jerri wrote the annual 4th of July Annabella Patriotic program held each summer after the parade in Richfield, Utah.

Jerri went to Elsinore Elementary School, Monroe Junior High, South Sevier High, where she was cheer cheerleader, and one year at BYU.

Jerri married Samuel Earl Gleave on September 20, 1952, and they moved to Annabella, Utah, where they lived and raised their five children. Years later, they divorced in August 1980.

Once again single, Jerri started over with a new life and had many adventures with her best friend, Ila Dean Hunt Nielson, also divorced. Jerri was very involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Single Adult program, going to their activities, dances, and dinners, and many outdoor adventures that took them to several places.

Jerri served a mission to the Porto Alegre, Brazil Mission, and loved the people of Brazil she served. The mission president soon learned of his mother's talent for writing histories. She was called to the Mission office to write the history of the Porto Alegre, Brazil Mission.

Jerri joined many different groups, clogging with the Green Valley Cloggers, and went to several states and places to clog as the 'Clogging Grandmas'. She sang with the Mopetts singing group, played piano with the Richfield chapter of the Fiddlers Association for several years.

Jerri loved her garden and planting flowers; she spent countless hours each day working in her yard and getting every single weed.

Later in life, she met and married Vernon Cottom Davis and was sealed in the Manti Temple. They were married four years before Vernon died unexpectedly, leaving Jerri single again.

Jerri spent the last two years of her life living at the Monroe Canyon Assisted Living and loved it there, especially attending all their activities... she could not miss, not one. Jerri passed away peacefully in a place she loved to be.

Survivors: Cheryl and Mac Lynn Hendrickson, Glenwood; Courtney and Tonya Gleave, Eager, AZ; Yvonne and Rocky Buchanan, Venice; Russel and Ann Gleave, West Jordan; Janet Gleave Stuart, Rio Rancho, NM; Brother Chet and Patsy Johnson, Elsinore; Sister In-law Doris

Johnson, Richfield; Stepchildren Verna and Kim Sorenson, Aurora; and Davon and Sharon Davis, Glenwood. Eighteen grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, and four great, great-grandchildren.

Jerri is in the care of Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, and Manti. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Annabella 2nd Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to Services at the Church from 11:00 - 12:30 pm. Burial will be in the Richfield Cemetery.
