Jerrold Forrest "Jerry" Easterly

Jerrold F. "Jerry" Easterly, 77, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.
Jerrold Forrest Easterly was born on May 1, 1948, in Jones County, Iowa, to Robert and Irene Elizabeth (Folkers) Easterly. He attended Onslow Elementary school and then Wyoming High School. He married Sarah Irene Starks on September 6, 1969 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, Iowa. Six children were born to this union, Theresa, Jeremy, Rhonda, Lisa, Joshua, and Jonathan.
Jerry's professional life was marked by dedication and service to his community. He began his career at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa before finding his calling as a jailer for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, a role he held with integrity until his well-deserved retirement.
Outside of work, Jerry was a man who embraced the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and mowing the yard. Springtime would find him in the woods, foraging for morel mushrooms, a seasonal delight he looked forward to each year. But above all, Jerry's happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include children, Theresa (Russell) Williamson of Baldwin, IA, Jeremy (Jane) Easterly of Maquoketa, IA, Rhonda (Lynn) Huebbe of Maquoketa, IA, Lisa Neofotist of Monticello, IA, and Joshua (Heather) Easterly of Forsyth, MO; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Carol Easterly of Anamosa, IA, and Clayton Easterly of Anamosa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jonathan, his wife Sarah on February 6, 2025, sisters Connie Thomas and Marsha Easterly, brother Bob Easterly, and a niece Amber Cudahy.
A private family service and burial will be held at a later date at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. At Peace Cremation Services have been provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.
