Jerry Roland Ackley Sr., 92, went home to be with the Lord; January 25, 2024. He was born in Eagle Township, Ohio, August 20, 1931, the son of the late James and Iva Ackley. He was a long time resident of Berea, Ohio with his late wife Shirla Ackley. They enjoyed traveling; especially to Mexico. Jerry served his country in the United States Air Force, worked for Schweitzer Equipment and Nutro Corporation, enjoyed his bowling league at Meszar’s Lanes for decades and his more recent pastime of enjoying nature watching for birds, deer and wild turkey.
Preceded in death by sisters; Ada ‘Marguerite’ Burkett and Juanita ‘Blanche’ Angel; brothers; Albert ‘Bud’ Ackley Sr. and Franklin M. Ackley.
Survived by sisters; Willajean Speer, Phyllis ‘Pea’ Clark and Orpha ‘Judy’ Bosworth; brother Royce ‘Shad’ (Shirley) Ackley, Sr.; children; Kenneth (Chloe) Ackley Sr., Jerry ‘Skip’ (Jamie) Ackley Jr., Deena (Kevin) Knoy, Sherman Ackley and Donna (Jonathan) Long, and blessed with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As per Jerry’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
